Yoga training like practice of different Asanas or postures, breathing exercises, Surya Namaskars, and concentration exercises, etc are done by the students as a part of kalaripayat training. Certain Asanas are also used for treatments and fixing sprains occuring to joints. The breathing exercises develope more healthy lungs and body.
The suryanamaskar consisting of both 10 or 12 asanas which tones up the muscle tissues, stretches the nervous system there by creating good blood circulations. Also any malfunctioning in nervous system is cured. Systematic breathing is done along with each asanas. It is done in the morning facing the sun.

With regard to World Yoga day on July 21st 2016, the kollam Yoga Association conducted a demo at Karunagapally, Kollam
On that day the Honourable M.L.A Mr.Ramachandran inagurated the function, at Sree vidhyadhiraja College, Thevarkavu, Karunagapally, between 10am and 11am.
